A web quest design project
Leading Practice cohort April/May 2012
Introduction
This digital content design project is the major learning activity for the Digital Content - Leading Practice community in April and May 2012. The aim of this activity is to provide experience in sourcing and researching the topics of copyright, access and equity and accessibility in relation to the design, development and evaluation of digital content and from this research synthesise and design a simnple digital content resource that can be shared with their VET practitioner colleagues and presented at the residential workshop on May 24th 2012. Participants will experience and collaborate in a virtual team approach to the design and development of this digital content resource.
Participants
This group activity is a research and design task that requires basic internet navigation skills but prior knowledge of the content areas is not required. A capacity to work in a team, manage priorities and be creative and consultative is a must! This activity will involve library mentors/support sourced from Institute librarians. Process This webquest activity will be launched on the 12th April via the Blogger to do list and will be completed and presented at the May 24th residential workshop in Brisbane. This activity will be completed as a 5-6 person group activity. Groups have been detemined by the facilitator and listed on the right hand top of this page Group development and activity time will be scheduled at the 2 web conferences on May 4th and May 18th. Some time outside of these web conferences may need to be allocated to achieve the outcomes of this activity, however this is determined by each group as they see fit. Outcomes

The digital content resource that is designed needs to focus on the VET teacher client group and be one of the digital content resources that teachers can be directed to as they enhance and design their digital content resources into the future. The design and format of this resource is determined collaboratively by the project teams and will be presented by each group at the 25th May residential workshop. Groups will be given time on the morning of the 24th May to finalise this presentation.
A basic rubric that provides some potential criteria to use as you develop this digital contenty resource. Use as a guide only and feel free to customise this as you develop your project example

This learning activity will provide the supporting evidence to meet the requirements of the TAE DES503A competency unit being used offered as an accredited training option for program participants.
Critical aspects for assessment and evidence required to demonstrate competency in this unit
Evidence of the ability to:Research, design and develop e-learning resources that reflect client needs and the contexts of application, including:the research and design of two e-learning resources, with documented evidence of:
consultation, research and findings
completed designs for the two resources
complete development of one resource with documented evidence of:
a review and trial of the resource, including user feedback and how this impacted on the development of the resource
the final e-learning resource, either complete or in part or sample
the candidate’s specific role in the development process.
